You get no sound at low levels but when you turn the volume up, you get static, correct??? My first suspicion is the amp, and a possible blown fuse, but what's got me is when I crank the volume up there is a mild increase in background static (like Sorry, couldnt resist!) Sounds like you blew the head unit. Is there a harness or would you recommend talking it to a shop/? While it is possible to add a new amplifier to the factory or aftermarket stereo, I would not recommend this option without replacing the factory installed speakers.
