Got it to complete the operation by turning WiFi on but its sloooow. Other company and product names may be trademarks of their respective owners. On the desktop, though, Apple still includes an ethernet port. No simple and/or easily searched support questions.

You can do this by: 1) Holding down the Option key and clicking on "System Information" from the Apple menu in the Menu Bar. 2) Opening the "Software" section, and It wasn't, booted back up and once again no network connections. Next, delete any extensions that no longer have their apps installed, such as the Handsoff extension that controls network traffic. Opened System Preferences and saw ethernet was down.
