I googled the problem and most of the time the headphones didn't work because of lint in the audio jack. Gosh, what a great idea 😀 Just Another Guest.. So, I ended up calling Apple Support on the phone. You will very likely end up blowing dust in-between the glass and actual LCD display, which is then impossible to get rid of, short of disassembling the device to clean it.
